In a nutshell……are you interested in saving money and time, avoiding heartache and headache, and gaining peace of mind about your decision to purchase an RV or sell your RV? If you answered yes to any of the above, read on!
What is an RV Inspection?
Next to your residential home, an RV is potentially one of the largest purchases you might ever make! And, you wouldn’t dream of purchasing your residential sticks and bricks home without an inspection of the important (and costly) items like major mechanical, electrical, plumbing, roof, the structural condition, leaks, and the likes, right? Your RV contains most of those same systems and when you think about it……is essentially your home on wheels!
A Certified RV Inspector RV will examine over 500 items both inside and outside the RV as outlined in the Standards of Practice. As a real estate agent who attended hundreds of inspections that lasted on average 90 minutes, I can assure you that an RV inspection is extremely detailed in comparison, taking from 6 hours to 12 hours depending on the size of the rig. The RV inspection will provide an unbiased assessment in both verbal and written format about the current condition of the RV. This information can help you, as a purchaser or a seller, make informed decisions and avoid costly mistakes.
Who needs an RV inspection and why?
SELLERS – even sellers with the best of intentions might not know all of the issues regarding the current condition of their RV. After receiving an RV inspection, sellers can take care of repairs on the front end, brag about the fact that your RV has been pre-inspected and repairs completed, and even share the reports with potential purchasers enabling you to take those items off the table when negotiating a selling price.
BUYERS – will need an inspection to identify the current condition of the RV before making an offer so you can avoid taking on a lemon or a money pit. Take a closer look:
- New to RVing Buyers – it can be overwhelming even choosing which Class/type of RV to purchase, new or used, towable or motorized. No need to pile on a fear of uncertainty regarding what issues to look for or questions to ask! A Certified Inspector will talk you through the findings and provide an easy to read report complete with photos and videos.
- Experienced RV Buyers – Can’t you look it over yourself? I was recently hired by an individual who had already spent five hours with the current owner, following him around with a clipboard and dozens of questions….which became strained and awkward. Adding an unbiased third party inspector in the mix took that tension away between seller and buyer so they could concentrate on negotiating the price.
- Out of Town/State Buyers – RV of your dreams across the state or the country? The NRVIA nationwide network can help locate a Certified Inspector in the area before you make the trip or spend time and money on a possible RV that is not a good fit.
I love to help all kinds of RVers get peace of mind about their decisions so they can get on to the good stuff: ADVENTURE!
